A missing Frame formulates the link between reality and fantasy

….It’s crazy how the world turns to ash huh…

Welcome to the World of stupidity and bullshit-ity.

Where clowns roam the streets, the hills, and the country.

Where sharks devour the innocent souls whose loved and lost.

The rest of us abandoned…stranded for dogs.

A never ending battle between fear and regret…

When will this end?

The missing Frame.

I’ll pretend its there when food’s astray.

I’ll pretend it’ll save me through the worst yet to come;

I’m only 22 you see.

I know, I know, some have it worst, But this is the reason I write, you see?

For feelings this deep there must be light, there must be some hope.

Some day I’ll learn to live without the missing Frame.

The Significance of a Television Organization

IN THE FALL OF 2011, I, NIEVES MARIA REYES, WAS WELCOMED WITH OPEN ARMS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT DALLAS. DURING WELCOME WEEK, THE ONE ORGANIZATION THAT EXTREMELY CAUGHT MY EYE AT THE UTD MALL WAS UTD-TV. PEOPLE AROUND ME NOT ONLY KNOW I LOVE WRITING MY POETRY, BUT I ALSO LOVE SCRIPT WRITING. EVER SINCE I JOINED I HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING EACH AND EVERY DAY.  I NEVER HAD THESE JOURNALISM/PRODUCING SKILLS IF IT WEREN’T FOR THIS AMAZING ORGANIZATION. I HAVE GROWN TO THE PERSON I AM TODAY, A NEWS PRODUCER.

“UTD TV aims to provide a new opportunity for communication through which to broadcast news, entertainment shows and other online media content produced by students, staff and faculty and to reflect the diversity of the university as a whole and as part of the local and international community”.

ABOVE IS UTD-TV’S MISSION STATEMENT. THERE ARE THOSE AT MY SCHOOL THAT BELIEVE TELEVISION PROGRAMMING DOES NO USE FOR THE SCHOOL. HONESTLY, AFTER READING THE MANDATE, HOW IS IT NO USE? EVERY DAY UTD-TV NEWS, AS A WHOLE, HAS THEY’RE EARS OPEN TO ISSUES STUDENTS HAVE. ANSWERING QUESTIONS AND SOOTHENING OUT COMPLAINTS STUDENTS MAKE EVERY DAY THROUGH BROADCAST; WE PROVIDE THE VISUAL ASPECT OF THE NEWS. THERE ARE THOSE WHO PREFER LOOKING AT A MONITOR THAN PICKING UP THE NEWSPAPER. FOR WHICH IS WHY WE NEED ACCESS TO THE TELEVISION SCREENS ACROSS CAMPUS. WE HAVE TELEVISION SCREENS, SO WHY DON’T WE PUT IT TO GREAT USE WITH UTD-TV. WE AS A WHOLE, BOTH NEWS AND ENTERTAINMENT, WE ARE BASICALLY THE TELEVISION STATION FOR UTD. AGAIN, HOW IS THAT NOT IMPORTANT? OUR TELEVISION STATION DOES NOT JUST AFFECT CURRENT STUDENTS, BUT PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS AS WELL, WHO WANT TO TAKE A GREATER GLANCE OF WHAT’S HAPPENING ON CAMPUS VISUALLY.

AS A PASSIONATE NEWS PRODUCER, I TAKE PART IN UTD-TV MANAGEMENT. EVERY DAY WE DREAM ABOUT PEOPLE NOTICING WHAT WE ACTUALLY DO FOR STUDENTS AND FOR THE SCHOOL ITSELF. THERE ARE THOSE WHO BELIEVE WE SHOULDN’T EVEN GET PAID FOR ALL THE HARD WORK WE PUT INTO UTD TELEVISION. IMAGINE IF WE CREATED A COMMERCIAL FOR THE SCHOOL ITSELF THAT THE CITY OF RICHARDSON WOULD APPROVE OF, AND WE WOULD SEE IT ON ACTUAL TELEVISION! BUT FOR A DREAM LIKE THIS, IT DOESN’T COME EASY.

SO PLEASE, I’M ASKING ONE THING. IF YOU BELIEVE UTD-TV IS A GREAT PART OF UTD AND DESERVES ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AFTER READING THIS, GO AHEAD AND FORWARD THIS AND SHARE IT WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. WE ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION. EVERYONE KNOWS, WITHOUT PASSION ONE HAS NOTHING.

*not speaking for organization. These are my thoughts alone.
